Large crowds of Surrey residents spent Saturday morning and afternoon at Tynehead Regional Park to celebrate nature and help with the renewal of the salmon population at the Great Salmon Run. This family friendly event reached its goals to: increase community awareness and participation, support Surrey’s volunteer organizations, and spark the public’s interest to care for local watersheds. The Great Salmon Run also gave all generations a chance to get active and promote a healthy way of life. Hundreds of Surrey citizens of all ages and physical abilities participated in either a 5km run/stroll or an 8km watershed mixed trail experience, while children had the option of the 300m Dash n’ Splash.
