Press release, 26.10.2012.
The Euronews Network welcomes a new member: Face TV
Face TV, Bosnia-Herzegovina’s top HD channel reaching 30 million people, joins the network created by Euronews.
Lyon, France, 26 October 2012 -The Euronews Network is expanding, welcoming Bosnia-Herzegovina as its newest partner. Euronews and Face TV, a general-interest, private channel based in Sarajevo, have just signed an agreement that will take effect in January 2013.
The Euronews Network, created by the international news channel, aims to develop partnerships with media groups from around the world, letting them take advantage of euronews content, and more generally its credibility and renown.
The Euronews Network concept is based on tailor-made cooperation between Euronews and those partners who wish to profit from Euronews’ know-how in programmes and resources.
According to the needs and objectives of media groups interested in joining the network, Euronews makes available part or all of its content, whether it is a live broadcast, access to programmes produced by the channel or privileged contact with the Euronews editorial bureau and its 400 journalists representing 30 different nationalities.
In addition to access to Euronews resources, the network also involves editorial cooperation between member newsrooms in response to breaking news or other significant developments in current affairs.
Euronews Network and Face TV
As a member of the Euronews Network, the Bosnian channel has access to a wide selection of services and close operational cooperation.
Face TV is also a privileged member of the network, thereby acquiring rights to:
– Broadcasting Euronews up to 5 hours per day, whether it is news or programmes that belong to the channel;
– Privileged access to the Euronews editorial bureau: Face TV editors can ask to work closely with Euronews journalists, benefiting from their knowledge and technical facilities. Members may also contact permanent and special correspondents as well as editors at the Euronews head office in Lyon and studios in Lyon and Brussels.
As of January 2013, Euronews will become accessible to the 30 million people that receive Face TV.
Face TV was founded in January 2012 by Senard Hadzifejzovic, one of Bosnia-Herzegovina’s most talented journalists.
In a country divided along both ethnic and political lines, Face TV is a private television channel, regarded as the only politically independent one in the country. It is the top HD general interest channel, broadcast on cable throughout the nation and by satellite (Eutelsat 16A) to neighbouring states and around Europe. Face TV is aimed at the whole family, and is Bosnia-Herzegovina’s most popular channel among viewers aged 18-40 years.
“Face TV is an extremely dynamic partner and we applaud its team for offering programmes that interest all audiences both in and around Bosnia-Herzegovina,” said Philippe Cayla, President of Euronews Development, the company within the Euronews Group in charge of media business development services.
“The arrival of Face TV in the Euronews Network also demonstrates the pertinence of the partnership model created by Euronews. On the one hand Euronews acquires new local broadcasting platforms, and on the other the Network responds to its members’ needs to benefit from the experience and resources of a big international news network such as ours. We are pleased to welcome Bosnia-Herzegovina among the members of the Euronews Network,” he added.
“For the first time in the history of Euronews Network, a private European television received the honour of becoming a member of one of the largest information systems in the world. After the accession of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Council of Europe, this is a very significant step forward for our country and the entire region of former Yugoslavia in the European integration process. We have become a member of Euronews, European public service television, long before our country will enter the EU.”
“We are very grateful to the Euronews team and its President, Mr. Philippe Cayla, who has in our TV project, Face TV, recognized the future: Youth, energy, determination, truthfulness, professionalism, independence and freedom. Face TV is a European project to promote European values. Europe and the truth are our ideals and our goals,” said Senad Hadzifejzovic, President of Face TV.
Euronews, the No. 1 international news channel in Europe, covers current events around the clock, everywhere in the world.
