SURREY – Beautiful Holland Park, former Olympic celebration site, welcomed today [Saturday] largest multicultural festival in Lower Mainland if not in whole British Columbia. Once more The City of Surrey is proving that Future lives in this BC and Canadian community, bringing together thirty-six nations, dozens of cultural and dance groups, bands and singers, adding endless list of family friendly activities. During two day festival every nation or group will have a chance to present itself and learn more about other represented nation. Thousands of visitors were able to try endless stream of different national food specialities and to learn how to cook some of them through presentations given by well-known chefs or City Councillors. Youngest visitors were given a chance to enjoy face painting, toddler town and sport activities, and all this will continue tomorrow from 10AM to 10PM. Everyone who visited Fusion Festival today was hoping that weather will be more suitable to summer months than to November as it was on the First day, rain was persistant to destroy joy and effort put in this event by City and community, but it seems that many visitors just didn’t care for rain and muddy terrain in Holland Park.
Defile of flags and procession through Holland Park displayed distinctive national traditional clothing and groups presented at the Festival, but what’s more important showed whole and unique respect to Canadian First Nations and heritage carefully protected by native habitants of this great country. Fusion Festival, in whole truth, fused together all people without looking at their skin color, religious or ethnic ancestry showing richness of Canada and its people today as that was before our generations.
