According to media reports in Britain radical Islamist Anjem Choudary once again spoke out in support to London terrorists, this time supporting Drummer Lee Rigby killers. This well known radical is one of the most outrages persons I ever heard off since Bin Laden’s hoards of terrorists attacked New York in 2001. Following murder of innocent British soldier, father, son and brother Lee Rigby, shameless Choudary once again, this time on BBC Newsnight program, delivered unbelievable statement in which he claimed that majority of Muslim population would support what Mr. Rigby killer said on the video just moments after he committed this horrible crime. He claimed that he was shocked but refuses to abhor Woolwich attack. Continue reading
Catholic Church is usual news theme when it comes to sexual abuse among religious communities in the world. Priests, Bishops and Archbishops even Cardinals were forced to resigned, Vatican demote them or they end up in jail for crimes committed against those entrusted to them either by family or community. But unfortunately they’re not alone in crime. Last week Serbian Orthodox Church forcefully retired Zvornik-Tuzla Bishop, Vasilije Kačavenda, officially due to “health issues” but the real reason according to media reports are sexual abuse, inappropriate behaviour, male prostitution and blackmail. Continue reading
The Independent State of Croatia was a quisling marionette state formed from the territories of present Croatia and Bosnia and Herzegovina from 1941 to 1945 in support of the Third Reich. Its supporters have been out in force in recent weeks.
Several small far right parties, historically connected with Ustasha regime, get together in the last week of December of 2011 to commemorate the death of Jure Francetic, a Ustasha commander. He responsible for thousands of deaths in concentration camps formed on Croatian territory. Just a days after the pro-Francetic celebration, same political groups with large crowds of supporters gathered at a church in the city of Split, where they celebrated mass for the leader of the NDH (Nezavisna Drzava Hrvatska/ Independent State of Croatia), Dr. Ante Pavelic. Last but not least, a relatively well-known columnist for the Zagreb Vecernji newspaper, Josip Pavicic, called for the Croatian public and literary community to compare Miroslav Krleza, a poet and author Communist, with Pavelic’s minister responsible for racial laws, Mile Budak (also known as minor writer and author of several books). “Honor killings are acts of vengeance, usually death, committed by male family members against female family members, who are held to have brought dishonor upon the family. A woman can be targeted by (individuals within) her family for a variety of reasons, including: refusing to enter into an arranged marriage, being the victim of a sexual assault, seeking a divorce—even from an abusive husband—or (allegedly) committing adultery. The mere perception that a woman has behaved in a way that “dishonors” her family is sufficient to trigger an attack on her life”, Human Rigths Watch
SURREY – In some countries or regions honor killings are everyday events almost considered as a “normal” and just added to previous statistical data. Others are not aware of this events up to the moment when one of them strikes close to the home or even your own family. Reasons for this horrible crimes are different, in majority of cases related to religious or just personal reasons, and in total disagreement with common sense or reasoning. Here in Canada we saw several of these crimes in last few years, probably one of them not long ago in the case of Ravinder Kaur Bhangu of Surrey.
United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA)estimates approximately 5000 women and girls are killed by members of their own families every year. If we simplify this number, even if this is only approximation, we’ll face ourselves with cruel fact that 15 women or girls were killed daily. Continue reading
